In the February issue of Progressive Farmer Magazine, writer Claire Vath "scoured farm country in search of great agricultural education programs." She found many but narrowed her picks to the top five in the country. One of those five is our own Jessamine Career and Technology Center.
JCTC Principal, Dexter Knight, says it best when he says, "I am somewhat overwhelmed at times with emotion regarding this exciting news. I along with our Central Office and Board of Education are exceptionally proud of the work our agricultural teachers have done over the past few years with the Jessamine County Agricultural Education program. These teachers work hard to insure our students get the best agricultural education on a daily basis ... Success truly breeds success!"
Well wishes were also received from the College of Agriculture at the University of Kentucky. Tracy Kitchel, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education, said, "Exceptional work, all! We are proud and blessed to work with you." Bryan Hains, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education, said, "Way to go everyone!! You are continually forging new and innovative paths for agricultural education.
Pamela K. Moore, Systems Consultant IT-KOSSA and former Jessamine County Agriculture teacher said, "My sincere congratulations to all of you for the amazing work you are doing and the outstanding educational experiences you are providing students in Jessamine County! Enjoy this… it is something you and the community will treasure a lifetime!"
Congratulations to JCTC Ag teachers Christi Hack, Ryan Thomas and Matt Simpson. As Superintendant Lu Young said, "You've made a NATIONAL impact! I am SO proud of you!"
