Hello EJMS Family and Friends -
This week starts the final quarter of school - can you believe it?! We hope many of you got to come see the school musical last weekend. It was fantastic! Our students will have an opportunity to see the show this Wednesday, so stay tuned to parent square and other communication for more details about that. This week, we've got new opportunities for our students to shine with the culture fair Tuesday and a cultural celebration starting at 5:30 Tuesday night - please plan to come to bring and enjoy food together and have a chance to share in each other's traditions and cultures. We also have our spring dance this Friday - thanks to PTO and all of the parent chaperones for making that possible. Can't wait to see our students all dressed up and ready to have a good time! We've got a lot coming up these next two weeks before spring break. Check it out in this week's edition of the weekly update.

As our DC-goers head toward home, we want to take a moment and thank Mrs. Harlan for all her hard work and dedication to make this trip possible! Each year, Mrs. Harlan plans a wonderful trip to DC, and each year gets a little more magical! Thank you to each parent who volunteered and to every person who helped make this trip possible! #proudtoroar

Learning came to life in class today! 🎉📚
Our students dove deeper into Summer of the Mariposas by connecting the story to the traditional game Lotería, a culturally meaningful game similar to bingo. In the novel, the Garza sisters often play Lotería with their dad, and each chapter begins with a riddle tied to one of the cards.
As students have been exploring the Hero’s Journey throughout the book, they’ve been using those riddles and symbols to track the sisters’ journey through each chapter. Today, they brought that learning to life by playing Lotería themselves!
Our Spanish-speaking students took the lead as the callers, announcing the cards in Spanish while another student shared the English translation and displayed the card. The room was full of excitement, laughter, and meaningful connections as students recognized symbols from the game and linked them back to moments in the story.
High engagement, student leadership, cultural learning, and literary analysis all in one activity — exactly the kind of powerful learning we love to see! 🌟

Happy Birthday Mr. Mitchell! Thank you for all you do! We hope you have the best day!

Hands-on learning at its best! 🐄🥛
Israel Mullins brought Olivia the Jersey cow to visit Mrs. Harrell’s Agriscience class today, giving students a vibrant, real-world learning experience. Students got firsthand insight into dairy cows and the dairy industry while making meaningful connections to what they’re studying in animal science.
Experiences like this help bring the classroom to life!

Did you see these amazing Beta members? Congratulations to these Jaguars and all their hard work! #proudtoroar
