📜🇺🇸 Happy Constitution Day! 🇺🇸📜

Today our social studies classes celebrated the signing of the U.S. Constitution back on September 17, 1787!

Our students dove into what the Constitution means, explored how our government works, and looked at how the Bill of Rights protects our everyday freedoms. Learning about our history helps us understand how to be active, informed citizens today!

Safe Schools Week felt like the best time to bring their knowledge out into the world and show everyone what it looks like to be safe inside and outside of the classroom.

Thanks to City County park for being a great inclusive space for everyone to safely share! 💚💙

Congratulations to Mallory Boysel!

Mallory recently competed as an individual at the Middle School Regional Golf Championship at Winchester Country Club. She had a good round and earned a qualifying spot to advance to the Middle School State Championship where she will be representing EJMS this Saturday at Oxmoor Country Club in Louisville.

She currently plays on the EJHS girls golf team and will also play in the High School Regional on Sept. 23rd.

We are incredibly proud of her and excited to watch her represent her school at the state level. She has worked hard on her golf game, and it's very exciting that she gets to wear her East Jessamine colors and represent her school in this next round.

Beanstack is at EJMS!

At East Middle we want to help our students develop and grow strong reading habits that help them find joy in a good book!

With Beanstack, students are able to select books and audiobooks that interest them, log the time they spend reading, and earn rewards!

The next great adventure is only a book away!

This week is Kentucky Safe Schools Week, and this morning some of our Sources of Strength Peer Leaders attended the Safe Schools Week Kick Off. This included a proclamation signing at JCTC Central with many of our Jessamine County community partners invested in the safety of our students. We are so thankful for those dedicated to school safety, and are so proud of our students for their efforts here at EJMS to make our school a safer and better place each day!

Our East and West Middle School students are advocating for- and promoting their Code Red Mental Health Safety Plans, dressed in Red for our Code Red Spirit Day. CODE RED is an acronym-based, universal safety planning intervention to help individuals navigate a crisis before it peaks. The acronym stands for CO-ntact, DE-lay decisions, RE-lax, and D-istract.

Keep scrolling to see if our students ran into a familiar face this morning!

Hello EJMS Community - We hope everyone had a great weekend after our short week. This week at EJMS is jam packed! It's KY School Safety Week, so each day has a theme and a color or outfit to wear with the theme. Be sure to check out the weekly calendar for what to wear when. We also have our students signing the KY School Safety Pledge on Friday. Speaking of signing up, we would love to have parent representatives on our school committees. Which one might meet your interests and expertise? Find out more about that and what else is happening this week in this edition of the school weekly newsletter.
